Immigrant Lives are on the Line

We Must Protect Immigrants from the Wrath of a Defeated Donald Trump

President Joe Biden will have a busy “Day One” on January 20, 2021. He has promised to halt construction of Trump’s border wall, rescind the so-called Muslim travel bans, prioritize reunification of families separated at the border, send a comprehensive immigration reform bill to Congress, and move to end restrictive asylum policies.

These goals are all good, but will depend on cooperation from Congress, particularly the Obstructionist-In-Chief Mitch McConnell, and are subject to challenges in a more conservative federal court system.

Meanwhile, it is November 9, and we have to wonder what the lame-duck and (quite frankly) deranged Trump administration will do in the next 72 days.

*How many more families and individual lives will be torn apart by expedited deportations?

*How many more cases of COVID-19 will ravage immigrants held in overcrowded ICE detention facilities?

*How much more private property will be seized and bulldozed for the vanity wall construction?

PDA continues to fight for immigrant rights, end unjust detention and deportation, and resist the border wall debacle. To those ends, we are working with progressive allies to win the senatorial run-offs in Georgia, thereby denying Mitch McConnell a Republican Senate majority, and keeping on high alert for any acceleration in Trump’s destructive immigration policies.

President Trump is not constitutionally required to concede the election, and he has not done so. His campaign is filing frivolous lawsuits to delay the electoral process, as well as planning a series of rallies to highlight ongoing litigation and potential recounts. His administration is so far refusing to sign a letter allowing President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team to formally begin its work this week.

We must maintain vigilance, and we must hold current and future officials accountable for the harm being done to immigrant communities.  We need volunteers to win in Georgia and your generous financial support today.

Thank you for anything you can do,
