Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is honored by a grateful nation today, and every day by Progressive Democrats of America (PDA). We revere him especially for his civil rights leadership, and also for his is fearless advocacy on behalf of all human rights. His legacy of struggling for peace and justice inspires our Healthcare Not Warfare campaign and our focus on Medicare for All (MFA).

Like Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt before him, and Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman before them, Dr. King also stood for strong moral advocacy, based on the human rights of all people. Dr. King challenged the United States to build a truly civilized society with living wage jobs, education, housing, and healthcare for all.
If Dr. King were alive today, he would be appalled at the immorality of privatization, predatory pricing, and profiteering off these conditions of human need. He would likely point out as PDA founder Tim Carpenter always did, that it is immoral to take away resources from the potential good of the many to be given for the benefit of a privileged few.
PDA recognizes this moral imperative as did Dr. King not only in advocating for #SinglePayer expanded and improved #MedicareForAll but also for #JobsNotWars #EducationNotIncarceration #WindmillsNotWeapons and #CorporationsAreNotPeople.
And so it is only fitting that on this particular #MedicareForAllMonday, we at PDA also honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as the great advocate for moral good that he was and remains in our national conscience. For ultimately, we the leaders and supporters of PDA know that our work is not about right versus left, it’s about right versus wrong.
