We start out with a big shout-out to the lead organizer of the Housing is a Human Rights conference, Susie Shannon, a longtime PDAer and founder of the DNC Poverty Council.

Not only was the public forum exceptional, the conference included two days of Capitol Hill lobbying—Friday in the House, Monday in the Senate—and culminated in a special visit to the floor of the People’s House, courtesy of my Congressman, Jimmy Gomez (CA-34).

PDA’s affiliated lobbying organization, Progressives for Democracy in America, will be aggressively supporting Reps. Jayapal and Meng’s Housing is a Human Rights legislation, as well as Rep. Maxine Waters’ Ending Homelessness Act, and pending legislation to support the rights of tenants to organize.

PDA is committed to making 2023 the year that all Americans understand that the progressive movement will not rest until every person in the United States is guaranteed safe and secure housing.
