According to opinion polls, the progressive agenda is supported by the majority of Americans. This has been the case for many years now. However, almost none of the progressive agenda has become government policy yet. Unfortunately, according to an influential study this should come as no surprise.

In 2014, Martin Gilens of Princeton and Benjamin Page of Northwestern analyzed opinion polls and legislation going back to the 1980s. Their findings showed conclusively that the wealthy determine political policies while the average American has, at best, negligible influence.

The study confirmed that for all intents and purposes we live in an oligarchy. PDA was founded to rectify this perversion of democracy. No other organization has undertaken this critically important mission.
