Help Us Make Memorial Day Mean Something
Give Peace a chance,
Debra Schrishuhn for Alan, Mike F, Janis, Mike H, Donna, Dan, Kimberly, Dr Bill, and Bryan—your PDA National Team
Progressive Democrats of America honors those who have died for the unrealized ideals that represent the American experiment.
Since PDA’s founding in 2004, we have condemned elected leaders who have sent soldiers into battle for purposes other than defense, and now we call upon U.S. policy makers to cease all military adventurism immediately.
Now is the time is enact a worldwide ceasefire and shift global resources and focus toward containing and overcoming the virus that is killing thousands of people daily.
The pandemic has already killed some 350,000 people in less than 5 months. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres called for an immediate end to all fighting almost a month ago, saying, “The fury of the virus illustrates the folly of war.” Which countries are opposing this resolution in the U.N. Security Council? The United States and Russia.
On this Memorial Day, we will honor those who have fallen in service to our country, whether they died in defense of the U.S. or in the implementation of policies that sacrificed our soldiers for militaristic or imperialistic goals, whether they died to liberate or oppress populations at the behest of the nation’s elected leaders. We honor their sacrifice by demanding peace and justice for all.
Today, I am asking you to help PDA continue our campaign to fight—not for flag or militaristic glory—but for an end to wars and occupations, a return to norms of social and political discourse, and a renewal of democracy. Please support our continuing peace-building efforts with a monthly gift of $20, $10, or $5.
P.S.: We need your sustained, monthly donations to continue our tireless efforts! Sustain PDA’s organizing for peace with an automatic monthly donation.
