The pandemic has already killed some 350,000 people in less than 5 months. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres called for an immediate end to all fighting almost a month ago, saying, “The fury of the virus illustrates the folly of war.” Which countries are opposing this resolution in the U.N. Security Council? The United States and Russia.

On this Memorial Day, we will honor those who have fallen in service to our country, whether they died in defense of the U.S. or in the implementation of policies that sacrificed our soldiers for militaristic or imperialistic goals, whether they died to liberate or oppress populations at the behest of the nation’s elected leaders. We honor their sacrifice by demanding peace and justice for all.
