Liuba Grechen-Shirley: Another Young New York Progressive Poised to Shock the World

On June 26th, a political earthquake occurred in New York City that rocked the entire country, as Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pulled one of the greatest upsets by a left-wing candidate in American political history. On November 6th, in the outer reaches of the New York Metropolitan Area, Liuba Grechen-Shirley could match AOC’s magic by unseating longtime incumbent and unapologetic Islamophobe, Rep. Peter King.

Like Ocasio-Cortez, Grechen Shirley has an unwavering progressive agenda: supporting Medicare for All, a $15 minimum wage, the rights of every worker to organize, and the re-allocation of excess defense spending for progressive ends – and, in marked contrast to her opponent, she defends the human rights of immigrants.

The race is close and Liuba needs your support. Inspired once again by Ocasio-Cortez, Grechen Shirley is running a classic grassroots campaign, going door-to-door, speaking with as many voters as humanly possible. Liuba supports complete public financing for elections, and will not take a single dime of corporate money. So, any help you can provide will go a very long way towards having another true progressive in the New York Congressional delegation.
