Empowering Workers and Rebuilding the Labor Movement
In solidarity, Alan Minsky for Mike H., Mike F, Janis, Deb, Dan, Dr. Bill, Shayna, Bryan, and Kim—your PDA National Team
Support PDA As We Support Two New Bills And
One Presidential Candidate To Empower Workers
This Labor Day, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), as always, stands in solidarity with American Workers and the Labor Movement. We especially honor and thank our close allies, National Nurses United (NNU) for their tireless leadership on Medicare For All (MFA) and countless other progressive policies.
PDA is working for the passage of two great new bills in Congress that will strengthen the rights of workers. Unfortunately, this legislation hasn’t received enough attention given all the hubbub during Trump’s Reign of Error.

The Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, introduced in the House by Rep. Bobby Scott (VA) and in the Senate by Patty Murray (WA) is major legislation that will instantaneously strengthen the American Labor Movement.
Also, the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights introduced in the House by Co-Chair of the Progressive Caucus Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA) and in the Senate by Kamala Harris (CA). Supported by the great Ai-Jen Poo, Executive Director of the National Domestic Worker Alliance, this legislation provides long-needed protections for some of our most vulnerable, exploited, and essential workers.
PDA will be pulling out all the stops to fight shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in the House of Labor for the passage of these bills, and other labor-supporting legislation.
PDAers overwhelmingly endorsed Bernie Sanders, a true champion of American Workers for President. Just last week, Bernie introduced his sweeping pro-labor “Workplace Democracy Plan.”
Labor scholar Barry Eidlin called Bernie’s initiative the “the most serious, comprehensive, and equitable plan for promoting workers’ rights ever proposed by a major US presidential candidate.”

The bottom line is that whenever our union brothers and sisters need support, PDA is there to do the work that needs to get done right alongside them—from the picket lines to the halls of Congress.
We’re in it for the long haul. So on this Labor Day please Click Here to help PDA help American Workers by signing up for monthly donations as a sustainer.
While we participate in Labor Day parades, spend quality time with friends and family, or just relax, it’s important to recall the purpose of this holiday. Today, PDA honors and thanks the courageous, dedicated, and thoughtful leadership of our allies in the labor movement.
It’s not enough to celebrate Labor on Labor Day, however. PDA needs your sustained support now to help combat Trump’s ongoing war on working people, unions, and economic fairness.
If you cannot commit to an automatic contribution, we welcome your generous one-time donation of $500, $50, or whatever you can afford. Money tight? Then please sign up with Mike “Phone Guy” Fox to make important calls from your own home. Rather not make calls? Then PDA will help you start or expand a chapter in your state or locality.
If you’ve never donated, or haven’t donated recently, please dig deep and give $500, $50, or as much as possible as an investment in progress. We understand that times are tough, and that the 1% has seized the lion’s share of all wealth. Of course we’re working to remedy that. We’re aware of the intolerable pressures on working people and those on fixed incomes. Unless you invest in progress now, your own situation will get worse, not better.
P.S. We’re here to help you make progress in your state and locality! Contact PDA’s Field Team to get help organizing a new PDA chapter or energizing your existing chapter. They will help you post your meetings and events onto the PDA calendar, and otherwise help your chapter thrive! Don’t delay! Start organizing now to make a real difference where you live. We’re here to help!
