Tell The Senate to Pass The DREAM Act
Because The DREAMers Are Here To Stay
Time is very short. Help Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) stand up for the brave, hardworking DREAMers! Any day now, the U.S. Supreme Court will hand down a decision on the Obama-era program called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
The program allows over 700,000 young undocumented adults who grew up in the U.S., have lived here most of their lives, and know no other home to secure limited immigration status and protection from deportation.
Whatever happens in the ruling from the high court, our response needs to be clear. Our fight to support DREAMers must continue. The House of Representatives has passed the DREAM Act. It is now time that the Senate follow.

Support DREAMers
Call the US Capitol Switchboard at (202)-224-3121, ask to be connected to your Senators’ offices. Ask to speak to (or leave a voicemail for) the staffer working on immigration issues. Say you’re their constituent, mention your city or town, and stress that you expect them to demand a vote for the Dream Act and vote for it.

Anxiety among DREAMers is understandably high particularly on Mondays, when the Court tends to announce its decisions. If the Court rejects DACA, recipients will lose their protection from deportation, their ability to work and support themselves, their health insurance, their ability to get a driver’s license, and to be a productive part of society.
If these consequences weren’t tragic enough, suppose racist Trump advisor Steven Miller gets his way and starts deporting DREAMers. Some 250,000 children of DREAMers, who are themselves U.S. citizens, will suffer separation from their parents.
Communities will be torn apart, and workplaces will be further disrupted—including hospitals and other frontline healthcare services during the pandemic crisis. With the COVID-19 virus killing people, any negative ruling will cause havoc during this national emergency.
Currently, some 27,000 DACA recipients—young professionals working as nurses, doctors, and healthcare providers—are putting their own lives on the line to care for the ill. Without DACA, their ability to work would legally stop, throwing the health care sector into chaos.
DACA recipients play other vital roles in our communities. They are grocery store workers, teachers, childcare providers, cleaners, business owners, restaurant employees, first responders, delivery drivers, and food service workers.
If the Supreme Court sides with the Trump administration, we will protest and call our Senators demanding they pass the DREAM Act. If the Court rules to keep DACA, we will celebrate for a day or two; then we will protest and call our Senators.
P.S. We need a more progressive Congress, so give generously to help PDA elect progressives to Congress. Join the Win 2020 Sustainer Team at $20.20 per month—or any amount monthly—to help us elect the next generation of Progressive champions. Whatever you can afford to give, your regular contribution will make all the difference!
