Pramila Jayapal’s College for All Act, would help millions of families afford college, benefiting the United States by ensuring that access to college is based on merit—rather than barred by exorbitant costs. We Need To Pressure Congress This Week

PDA endorsed and worked to help elect Rep. Jayapal to Congress because we believed in her ability to lead and legislate. As the Representative for Washington’s 7th congressional district, she’s exceeded our lofty expectations. Not only has she joined the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), but her colleagues elected her First Vice Chair of the caucus. On top of that, she’s gone to work legislating for progress—sponsoring and cosponsoring the People’s Platform! Tuition-free college is the norm in other modern nations. It’s time for us to join them.

We need the College for All Act. It would let students attend community college for free, and eliminate tuition and fees at four-year public colleges and universities for students whose families earn less than $125,000 a year. That would help about fourth fifths of Americans. The legislation would also cut student loan interest rates in half, and let students refinance their loans whenever interest rates drop.
