We were founded in 2004 with the goal of bringing the Democratic Party back to its progressive ideals—to remake it into a true People’s Party. The DNC voted on the “Unity Reform Commission” proposals over the weekend, and progressives won significant concessions. We’ve been working with a powerful coalition backing these important changes to revitalize the Democratic Party. Now, it’s up to us to continue our work to make the Democratic Party more democratic.

PDA and allies including Roots Action, Our Revolution, and others kept the pressure on for several months including our coalition’s informational picket at the Chicago DNC meetings. We won’t stop organizing until we transform the Democratic Party into a true People’s Party. Thanks to our coalition efforts, these reforms are effective now:

• Ending superdelegates voting on the first nominating ballot in the presidential primary
• Electoral reforms and a process for rewarding states that have same-day registration, same-day party change, open primaries, other measures that increase civic participation
• The creation of an Ombudsman Committee and strengthening the conflict of interest provision.
• Improving financial oversight of the DNC’s finances and spending

Our efforts to reform the American political, social, and economic injustice will never end until we’ve eliminated voter suppression, corruption, cronyism, and all forms of pay for play “donorocracy.” That is, rule by the elite special interest big donor class. We will continue the struggle for justice by establishing a truly people-powered solutions.

We need ongoing popular progressive grassroots mobilization to elect strong progressive candidates and to enact fair and effective progressive policies. Help PDA and our allies enact pro-democracy reforms. We can’t do anything without you. Become a Change Makes Change Sustainer.
