Since our founding in 2004, Progressive Democrats of America has fought tirelessly for racial, social, economic, and environmental justice, and for an end to senseless wars and occupations. From our beginning, we have worked on and developed an inside/outside strategy in order to make the Democratic Party more responsive to progressive goals and policies.

In late 2013, we laid the groundwork to persuade Sen. Bernie Sanders to run for President as a Democrat, and his two campaigns reinvigorated the progressive movement in the U.S.

Medicare For All, once considered a lefty pipe dream, is now receiving serious attention and collecting many cosponsors on Capitol Hill. Likewise, the formation of a national Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation commission is gaining traction, and H.R.40, to study and develop reparations for descendants of slavery, passed out of committee for the first time since it was originally introduced over 30 years ago. The House passed H.R.51, to make the new state of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth last week, and a brutal cop was convicted of the public murder of George Floyd. On Thursday and Friday, President Biden held a virtual summit on the climate emergency with 40 world leaders, completing a promise that PDA activists inserted in the Democratic Party platform.

Still, huge amounts of work remain, as our Annual Leadership Conference last week demonstrated. PDA is actively recruiting and promoting progressive candidates for Congress even as we hold elected officials accountable. We work with allies on healthcare, immigration reform, the climate emergency, expanding collective bargaining rights, raising the minimum wage, reducing racial and economic inequity, making college tuition- and debt-free, protecting voting rights, defunding the military/industrial complex, and other progressive priorities.

All of these ongoing activities, which PDA performs on a shoestring budget, require sustained funding. We depend on gifts from individual activists like you to step up and make monthly contributions so that we may continue and expand our efforts on behalf of all of us. Please become a monthly sustainer today—your recurring gift of $25, $12, $10, or $5 a month keeps PDA and the country moving toward true justice for all.

All new or upgraded monthly donations will receive a thank you bumper sticker, button, or more, depending upon the size of the contribution.

PS:  For a good overview of much of the work we’re doing see the recordings from our recent Leadership Conference.  If you like what you see, please become a sustainer now.
