how much we can do together
For seven years, we have wondered what it would take to loosen Donald Trump’s malignant hold on the Republican Party. At PDA, we have counseled activists to work for electoral solutions: without paying a price at the ballot box, Republicans will continue on their authoritarian path. At last, after three consecutive elections where Republicans under-performed, the message is starting to gain traction.
Unfortunately, Trump is running again and Trumpism is only wounded. We need to keep helping to cure ballots from the 2022 midterms, ensure Sen. Warnock’s victory in the December 6 runoff, continue to hold elected officials responsible for their actions and their policies, and recruit more progressives to challenge the status quo. Next year will see a number of local and state elections, plus the inevitable special election or two. And of course, candidates in both major parties are queuing up to run in 2024, when 21 Democrats (including Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema) and two Independents will be up for re-election in the U.S. Senate.
So, our work continues at a rapid and intense pace. We have no billionaire donors to fund PDA; we depend on grassroots support for our grassroots organizing. When you decide to become a monthly sustainer, your continuing support helps us budget our resources to work as effectively as possible. Having a healthy set of monthly donations allows us to spend more time organizing and less time fundraising.
Roughly 10 percent of PDA activists donate to support our efforts. Fewer than 3 percent give monthly. Please help us push through to more victories in 2022 and gear up for the 2023 and 2024 races. Become a monthly sustainer today.
We have two sayings at PDA: Change Makes Change, and Dollars Holler. Whether it’s $2.70/month or $27/month or more (one dedicated PDA couple gives $300/month), your gift matters, and helps us help all of us.
Contribute today for a better tomorrow.
