Alarm Bells Are Blaring As Iowa Melted Down Last Night
Tell Your Senators We Need Elections We Can Trust
Support PDA’s Work to Protect Your Voting Rights
As we await the delayed results from the Iowa Caucuses, conjecture and competing victory declarations further muddle an already cloudy situation. The Iowa meltdown is just the latest example of “electoral dysfunction” that has become increasingly frequent since the 2000 Recount Debacle.
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was founded in 2004 to uphold basic progressive principles including free, fair, clean, and transparent elections. As our first major effort, we worked with allies investigating and publicizing wholesale “irregularities” in Ohio during the 2004 Elections. We’ve never lost sight of this commitment.
During Black History Month, we give a huge shout out to all of the courageous civil right icons and volunteers who sacrificed to extend and protect the right to vote. This is not the time to betray their legacy! While we’ve made some headway in preventing voter suppression, disenfranchisement, and election hacking, we still have a long way to go.
The House of Representatives passed legislation called the For the People Act (H.R. 1) “To expand Americans’ access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, and strengthen ethics rules for public servants, and for other purposes.” Tell your Senators to follow suit. Then Email Mike Fox to volunteer with a PDA Campaign and/or the Phone Team.

Pitch In Each Month To Protect Our Elections
During past election cycles, PDA’s founding Advisory Board member and renowned fair and accurate elections activist Mimi Kennedy has prepared voters’ “survival kits,” i.e. specific, concrete advice to help voters protect their rights and prevent their disenfranchisement.
Mimi asserts that only a well-informed voter is able to detect and overcome voter registration purges, unauthorized changes to their party affiliation, and other threats to participation in our democracy. Mimi has taken it upon herself to once again forewarn voters as the primary season rapidly approaches.
She urges you to check your registration status today and every Tuesday to ensure you’ll be able to fully participate in upcoming primaries and caucuses. This because glitches, errors, and premeditated high-tech efforts could compromise your right to vote!
We’re proud to support the highly-effective coalition organizing by our sibling organization, People Demanding Action, led by the brilliant Andrea Miller. As Executive Director, Andrea brings together several organizations to help voters overcome barriers to participation, to protect our rights to vote, and to have our votes counted accurately.
As voters prepare to participate in primaries and the general election, we need your support right now to maintain our ongoing efforts to protect and promote voters’ rights! Can we count on you?
