Mar 6, 2017

By Donna Smith, Executive Director – Progressive Democrats of America

PDA strong supports the General Strike slated for this Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

women's strike signHere are ways to participate:

The Women’s March organizers have asked those who can participate to do so in any of the following ways:

1. Refraining from work—both paid and unpaid
2. Refraining from shopping in stores and online (exceptions can be made for local small businesses and women-owned businesses that are not part of the #GrabYourWallet boycott)
3. Wearing red—a color of love, revolution, energy, and sacrifice—in solidarity

You may also wish to help get the Equal Rights Amendment over the finish line in Nevada. It may seem largely symbolic, but it has been more than a decade since any state moved the ERA forward.

DUAL EVENT(also a Facebook Event):
Nevada Assembly Committee Hearing on SJR 2 to Ratify the ERA
Tuesday, March 7 from 1:30 PM-2:30 PM (Carson City & video conference in Las Vegas / live video feed)

Nevada Assembly Floor Discussion & Vote on SJR 2 to Ratify the ERA
Probably on Wednesday, March 8 from 11 AM – 12:30 PM (Carson City / live video feed)

Finally, PDA dedicates all of this week’s activities in support of women and those who support women to Maggie Greenburg of New Mexico. Maggie died this week after being a vital part of PDA’s leadership for many years. Rest in peace, dear friend and woman warrior for justice. Rest in gentle peace
