WASHINGTON--October 28

The meeting is open to the public and will be focused on keeping the antiwar voters actively engaged in the Democratic Party, even after Nov 2nd, regardless of the outcome.

The Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), a new political organization, will register voters and recruit volunteers at the Ani DiFranco VOTE DAMMIT! Tour in the presidential swing states.
Di Franco, a strong Dennis Kucinich supporter during the Democratic Primaries, has invited PDA to "table" at her concerts. Ms. Di Franco will also be donating tickets to PDA for fundraising use.
PDA Director Tim Carpenter said, "We are honored to join Ms. Di Franco. She understands that if we want progressives to vote for Democrats, we must support organizations like PDA which are working to transform the Party into a force for social justice, environmental sanity, and true democracy. Ani understands Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) is dedicated to building the 'progressive wing of the progressive wing' of the Democratic Party, with a long-term goal of transforming the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) and corporate-dominated Party into a force for progressive social change. She is committed to be a part of that transformation and we look forward to working with her."
Comedian Margaret Cho will be joining Ani for shows in Minneapolis, Madison, and East Lansing while Suzanne Westenhoefer brings the laughter to earlier tour stops. Musicians and political activists Indigo Girls Amy Ray and Emily Saliers will be special guests at the New Orleans, Memphis, and Eureka Springs dates. Songwriter Dan Bern will open many of the shows as well.
The Feminist Majority Foundation and local and regional peace and justice, civil rights, environmental, and other progressive organizations will also register voters and educate people about these issues. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will be donated to these organizations, and they'll be given a set of tickets to use in their own registration drives.

Progressive Vote is happy to announce that we are taking the first step in uniting two progressive groups under the banner of the "Coalition for America" by teaming up with WeCount.org. WeCount and Progressive Vote have worked with Media-Screen to conduct a survey asking those voters what issues are important to them and whether they think Senator Kerry represents their views. If not, we ask how he could refine his positions on the issues to gain their support. We are dedicated toward persuading Kerry's campaign to expand its base by reaching out and giving a voice to Greens, independents, and progressive Democrats.

Progressive Vote works to support State Progressive Democratic Caucuses and their activities. The latest campaign that is creating excitement comes from the Arizona Progressive Democratic Caucus as they help to preserve Clean Elections.
Clean Elections reduces the influence of special interest monies and provides a level playing field by offering qualified candidates a limited and equal amount of public funds. It's a bold, new experiment in campaign finance reform, seeking to restore democracy and the principle of one person, one vote. [ READ MORE ]

We are proud to announce that we have partnered with Blue State Digital, a company formed by key
staffers from the Presidential Campaign of Governor Howard Dean. This group of talented individuals were instrumental and played a key role in developing the revolutionary internet strategy that raised over $50 million from hundreds of thousands of contributors, changing the way campaigns communicate with supporters and the press, and building a grassroots movement of over half a million Americans.
