In spite of inclement weather that brought most activity in Washington D.C. to a standstill over the weekend, over 500 activists representing over 40 states and a variety of ages and ethnicities gathered in the city to strategize for the future of the Democratic Party.

In the snowbound capitol city, an eclectic group of entertainers mobilized PDA Summit attendees. Musicians from rock to hip hop, poets, comedians, and the revelation of the secret musical life of a certain well-known policy wonk had the audience on their feet cheering and dancing in the aisles.

A crowd of over 1,100 people turned out to see several prominent progressive actors reading a work in progress by the man often called "America's greatest living playwright," Tony Kushner. Headlining the cast were Sally Field and Mimi Kennedy, who both played the role of Laura Bush reading to a group of dead Iraqi children. Also appearing in the cast were the actors Charlayne Woodard, John Glover, and Anthony Michael Hall.
