Kansas State News
Vol. 2, No. 2--March 19, 2005
On March 5, 2005, the Kansas Progressives became an ancillary organization of the Kansas Democratic Party. We worked for nine months to achieve full access to the state party as well as the privileges that accompany recognition by the party. We also held our first meeting as an official caucus and elected officers as required by our by-laws. Joey Sprague and I were unanimously re-elected as co-chairs, as were our new secretary, Katherine Bailey; the new treasurer, Lauren Sullivan; and the new Rules chair, Kerri Conan. We elected Pam Ippel to the position of Membership and Recruiting Chair. Later in the afternoon, during the semi-annual State Committee meeting, our proposed by-laws change to the State party by-laws was adopted by a show of hands and was nearly unanimous.
We look forward to help shape the future of the Kansas Democratic Party and in developing a working relationship with the other 11 caucuses of the KDP.
We will now turn our attention to the arduous task of seeking our 501(c)(4) status and fundraising activities so we may help Progressives at all levels of government.
The next meeting is on December 4th, 2004 in Lawrence KS's Memorial Hospital from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. in one of the conference rooms on the lower level.
Respectfully submitted by:
Jeff Zamrzla
Kansas Progressives Co-Chair
