Delaware State News
Vol. 2, No. 2--March 19, 2005
The first "get-together" meeting of progressive Delawareans took place on December 11th in Newark. Thirty individuals representing diverse activist organizations and political affiliations agreed that we would work together in this yet unnamed group on creating a grassroots social movement based on common values, shared ideologies and issues regarding social and economic justice.
To be as inclusive as possible, we agreed that we will not specifically work within the Democratic Party (hence can be an umbrella coalition of people with any or no party affiliation). This freedom from party affiliation provides the opportunity for a broad array of individuals and organizations working as a federation / alliance of different groups, political parties, activist associations, and like-minded individuals to address selected critical issues--both local and national--as well as collaborating with similar groups nationwide.
