Colorado State NewsVol. 2, No. 1--Pre-Summit, January 2005Colorado Progressives are working with other organizations to determine our next course of action. We will be meeting with Be The Change to determine if they are willing to help create a progressive caucus within the Democratic Party (or outside) and what level of involvement we can expect from them. Be The Change formed as a PAC. It has a board of directors and representatives from each of Colorado's seven congressional districts. For more information on Be The Change, please go to their web site. We are also going to be meeting with Democracy for Colorado (affiliated with Democracy for America). DFC is currently reorganizing and individuals from Be The Change and PDA are participating in the reorganization. The Colorado Democrats County Parties are working on their reorganizations, including elections, which will lead up to the state meeting and elections in March. We are uncertain how much of an impact we can have at this early stage, but we are continuing to pursue it. Many of us are working within the Colorado Progressives non-profit organization, which is dedicated to building a progressive social movement. The organization is looking to create seminars, lectures, discussion groups, and conferences to educate progressives throughout the state about progressive values, progressive language and framing, progressive policy directions, spiritual activism and holistic politics. Our ongoing conversation cafes (Progressive Cafe) continue in six different locations along the Front Range and we are looking to expand to many more locations throughout the state. For more information please see our web site. Patrick West |
