Working for Voting Rights

Vol. 1, No. 6--December 23, 2004

The 2004 presidential election put many of the problems with our election system under heightened scrutiny. Enfranchisement of the citizenry is the very foundation of our democracy. Yet we have been tricked and bullied into allowing fair voting rights to be eroded. It is not enough to ask how we got here, though that is certainly relevant, we must also work to change a system that allows for such large-scale disenfranchisement and fraud. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) will reintroduce a Constitutional Amendment confirming the right to vote. PDA is preparing to support that effort.
