Oklahoma State News

Vol. 1, No. 6--December 23, 2004

Oklahoma City, Sunday, December 12, 2004 - A non-partisan group of Republicans, Greens, Independents, and Democrats assembled at the Oklahoma State Capitol at noon to protest the stolen election.

This protest was a part of a national 51 Capitol March. We also have an Oklahoma web site for this movement.

Each member of the group carried a hand-painted sign to protest the election and requests for safeguards to insure a fair election. Without fair elections that include safeguards, confidence in the election process is lost. We are attempting to bring notice to the nation that those safeguards are essential.

The pre-election and exit polls exhibited a far different result from the actual vote tally. The exit polls have always been accurate until the 2000 Florida election returns. This last election, the deviations were notable, especially in Ohio and Florida. The theft of our votes was blatant.

In the Ukraine, the election was discarded and a new election is to be held because the exit polls and the actual count didn't agree. Is the democracy in Kiev more secure than ours?

We assembled on the south steps of the Capitol building and some pictures were taken. Then we gathered close to the statue of the Native American (sorry, I did not read the plaque, don't know the name) for more pictures.

We held our signs toward the traffic as it moved by. Several drivers waved, smiled and honked; others would not look at us and frowned as they drove by.

One man circled around into the Capitol drive and thanked us for the great work we were doing.

A highway patrolman drove by and stopped. He told us we did not have a permit and would have to leave. Several of us attempted to tell him we were on public property and remind him about freedom of speech and peaceful assembly.

Soon another highway patrolman came. Both officers informed us they would not debate us over the issues. If we did not leave immediately, they would arrest us and cart us off to jail.

We left and went to the Oklahoma County Election Board. A city patrol car passed us and didn't stop.

This one display of home-made signs will not make much difference. But multiply this by hundreds of thousands across the land, exhibited frequently, and they will have a great impact.

We must remain united and active. Let's take our country back. It is ours.
