New Jersey State News

Vol. 1, No. 6--December 23, 2004

PDA in New Jersey is in the very beginning stage of coming together. Thirty people have already independently signed up on the website, some of them from the former Kucinich campaign. I have just recently begun to get email inquiries from various individuals statewide looking to connect with the state body, as a result of my new listing as state organizer on the PDA website. Somehow people are finding us. I am responding to these inquiries--trying to connect folks up locally where possible--with hopes that we will all meet in January at the Summit in DC or at some point thereafter at a centrally located statewide meeting as we continue to organize and expand.

I am personally aware of several already existing progressive groups in various locations throughout the state that I hope can somehow connect with PDA, although at this point I am unclear as to how this might happen. At our recent local "Democracy for America MeetUp" in Camden, I sensed a reluctance of this group to "merge." Perhaps the existence of separate progressive groups has merit in diversity--although that would not be my preference, because I believe coalition-building and solidarity are more important at this critical juncture: putting aside our differing views of progressivism and uniting synergistically to build a strong movement emanating from our core common ground, in order to reach critical mass consciousness.

May peace prevail on earth,

Anne Creter - New Jersey
State Coordinator
