Kansas State NewsVol. 1, No. 6--December 23, 2004The Kansas Progressives have now adopted our bylaws, caucus structure, mission statement, and lastly our election cycle plan. We needed to have those in place before we petitioned the Kansas Democratic Party for inclusion as an ancillary organization, because they are all required by the KDP for application. We have been busy determining the bank we will use and setting up our legal structure for our PAC. We are on a steep learning curve because of Federal FEC, IRS, our Secretary of State's required paperwork, and the Kansas Ethics Commission's paperwork. The Fundraising Committee has its financial guidelines in place and approved by the caucus also. You can find them on our web site. Feel free to use what you can for your own caucus but at your own risk! We are meeting in Lawrence, Kansas on January 8th to learn about fair taxation policies and health care issues from our guest speakers. I am also making arrangements to visit as many college campuses here in Kansas as will allow setting foot on them. My first campus visit will be in February at Emporia State University. Our numbers are growing, as are our advocacy and activism. Jeff Zamrzla |
