Vol. 1, No. 5--December 4, 2004
The Iowa Progressive Caucus held a meeting on November 14th. With more than 100 members, many of whom were at the meeting, the caucus has now elected officers and formed committees. However, in anticipation of additional growth, committee chairs and the office of Vice Chair have been left open so that new members will have an opportunity to serve in those capacities if they wish.
Kathleen Ferguson was elected Chair of the caucus and the Third Congressional
District, and Doug Simkin was elected Chair of the Second Congressional District.
The following committees were formed: Membership, Rules, Public Relations/Fundraising, Social Issues, and Political Action/Grassroots. Kathleen
Ferguson and Doug Simkin will proceed with IRS and FEC Federal PAC status work.
The date of the next meeting has not been set, but committees will begin meeting soon, with special emphasis on getting grassroots work started. Anyone interested in joining the Caucus or any of the committees may contact Kathleen Ferguson at 515-255-0641, or by .
