Progressive Democratic Summit
Washington, D.C., Friday January 21-23, 2005
Vol. 1, No. 3--November, 2004
Please join Progressive Democrats of America and a growing list of progressive sponsoring organizations for a Progressive Democratic Summit in Washington D.C., January 21-23, 2005 at the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia. The Progressive Democratic Summit will focus on PDA plans to build an unstoppable coalition of the hundreds of millions of Americans who will benefit from taking back of our democracy, our economy, and our institutions from the moneyed interests and the military-industrial complex that now control our lives and rob us of our precious right of informed self-governance.
The Progressive Democratic Summit will highlight PDA grassroots organizing tools and the PDA model for taking back the Democratic Party. The Summit will consist of meetings with progressive congressional leaders, state caucus breakout meetings, and panel discussions and workshops on the war in Iraq, single payor health care, environmental sustainability, recruiting/training progressive candidates, and forming progressive caucuses within state Democratic Party entities.
The PDA Progressive Democratic Summit--conducted in alliance with organizations such as state Democracy for America, Grassroots for America, Progressive Majority, United Progressives for Victory, and other sponsoring organizations--intends to:
- Rally participating individuals and groups to advance action plans for the transformation of the Democratic Party at the local, state, and national level,
- Mobilize local and state progressive grassroots activists to advance to positions of Democratic Party leadership,
- Support the development and growth of 435 congressional district progressive chapters, and 50 state progressive caucuses nationwide, and
- Embolden progressive groups and caucuses to advance the progressive vision wherever possible.
