Take the Peace Pledge--Fall Peace Offensive

August 11, 2007

Congress is about to debate funding for military operations in Iraq for FY2008. Americans voted in 2006 to end the Iraq War and support for the Democrats in Congress is dwindling as the Iraq occupation continues. Several dozen courageous members of Congress joined PDA Advisory Board members Reps. Lynn Woolsey, Barbara Lee, Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs and Maxine Waters, Out of Iraq Caucus Chair in putting the Bush Administration on notice. Add your voice to this historic effort.

Rep. Jim McGovern explains " The Peace Pledge says that you support the seventy members of Congress have already signed an open letter to President Bush stating they 'will only support appropriating additional funds for U.S. military operations in Iraq during Fiscal Year 2008 and beyond for the protection and safe redeployment of all our troops out of Iraq.' Debate over Iraq appropriations begins in a matter of days."

Let's rally around those Congress members who are standing firm in using their power of the purse to carry out the voters will of disengagement from Iraq. Take the Peace Pledge now:

1. Sign the Petition

2. Email my member of Congress and request they pledge to “only support appropriating additional funds for U.S. military operations in Iraq during Fiscal Year 2008 and beyond for the protection and safe redeployment of all our troops out of Iraq.”

If your representative already signed the letter, please show your appreciation .
