The California Progressive Democrats Tour is coming your way, and we would like to invite you to join us at any or all of our events leading up to and including the California Democratic Party State Convention in Sacramento, April 28-30.
Progressive Democrats of America will sponsor events featuring our national leadership and special guests at three Southern California sites during the week preceding the convention, then roll on into Sacramento for an entire weekend of political action, after which we expect to be energized and determined to take it to the streets of our home districts!
First in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, April 25, we will have PDA Board Members Cindy Sheehan, Tom Hayden, Mimi Kennedy and Lila Garrett along with PDA National Directors Tim Carpenter, Sherry Bohlen, and Kevin Spidel at the gorgeous Beverly Hills home of Teddi Winograd, mother of PDLA Chapter Leader and candidate for Congress, Marcy Winograd.
This event is a fundraiser especially for our activities for the state convention, so your donation of $100 per person or more can be considered a direct action to help us make the California Democratic Party the real voice of the people that we all know it should be.
It will start at 6 p.m., and the address is 608 N. Rodeo Drive (2 blocks north of Santa Monica Blvd.).
Next, on Wednesday, April 26, we have a free-for-all, barn-burner rally planned by the PDA Orange County Chapter at the Irvine headquarters of PDA-endorsed candidate for Congress Steve Young. It will feature the PDA national team along with PDA Board Members Rev. Lennox Yearwood, founder of the Hip Hop Caucus, and John Bonifaz, constitutional lawyer and candidate for Massachusetts secretary of state. The rally will start at 7 p.m., after an informal meet-and-greet potluck at 6 p.m. (please bring something yummy to share!).
The address in Irvine is 101 Pacifica, Suite 240 -- that's in the Irvine Spectrum, right off the I-5 freeway, in the office building diagonally adjacent to the Doubletree Hotel. Donations of any amount will be gladly accepted at this event.
And finally, on Thursday, April 27, we will move the tour up the coast on the way to Sacramento with a drive-time PDA Santa Barbara reception starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Democratic Service Club Headquarters/SB Tax Center at 402 E. Gutierrez St. That's just north of the 101 freeway at the Laguna St. exit in downtown Santa Barbara.
This event will again feature our national PDA team and local leaders and personalities, and we will have wine, cheese, and other delectables on hand. The suggested donation will be $25 at the door.
The state convention will start Friday afternoon, with PDA first on the agenda at the newly formed Progressive Caucus. We will have constant activities including PDA associated candidates and local leaders at our booth throughout the weekend, and on Saturday evening, a major good time will be had by all at our own hospitality suite reception.
We certainly hope you can join us for any or all of this highly motivating and fun week of progressive politics. Our intent is nothing less than to "Mobilize, Organize and Deliver the Progressive Vote for 2006."
Of course, we could not do any of this without your support. If you can, please help make it all happen by donating.
Special thanks to Mervis Reissig, Anna Givens, PDA Northern California State Coordinators, and the statewide organizing committee that has been working so diligently to make these events happen!
