Back To Sac Night a Huge Success for PDA

October 1, 2009

On Thursday, September 24, the Sacramento PDA community celebrated together with the PDA national team. Despite the sweltering 104 degree day, close to fifty PDA activists and their families gathered for a little one-on-one with the National PDA team and shared a wonderful potluck dinner.

A number of long-time PDAers, along with many newcomers, greeted the national team. A contingent of political activists from (very red) Placer County showed up to get the ball rolling on forming a new PDA chapter in California’s Fourth Congressional District. A few more PDA chapters might also be forming as a result of this gathering. People were very interested in all the work being done by PDA National in concert with the grassroots clubs located in and around Sacramento.

Tim Carpenter, PDA’s national director, gave a concise, nuts and bolts view of PDA’s five-year history and laid out our course going into 2010. Tim recognized all the hard work of the national team as well as PDA CA state coordinators Dr. Bill Honigman and NorCal coordinators Karen Bernal and Richard Hundrieser. Both Tim and Rich stressed the importance of our “Change Makes Change” program as we continue to grow and expand into the future. It was noted that the number of “Change Makes Change” partners has doubled in the last 2 months. We need to keep the ball rolling in order to pay for all the hard work yet to come.

The Wellstone Progressive Democrats of Sacramento rolled out their new WPDS/PDA banner at the party to celebrate their first anniversary of being a chartered member of the Democratic Party of Sacramento County Central Committee. (Pictured in background above.) This strategy is in concert with the PDA inside/outside strategy.
