PDA-endorsed Jerry McNerney to Challenge Richard Pombo in California's 11th District

Northern California activists earned a big victory in the June 6th primary election. In the 11th Congressional district, renewable energy expert Jerry McNerney (www.jerrymcnerney.org) got 52.5 percent of the vote in a 3-way race for the Democratic nomination. McNerney faced a formidable opponent who received substantially more money, but the McNerney campaign organized a strong grassroots alliance of concerned citizens, union members, local Democratic clubs, and DFA and PDA members to promote Jerry's message of renewable energy, health care for all, and an end to the violence in Iraq. On April 30, PDA-endorsed Congressional candidate Jerry McNerney, a renewable energy expert from Pleasanton, CA, (11th District) won the California Democratic Party endorsement of his primary election candidacy, with an overwhelming 75% of the vote. McNerney's PDA endorsement was initiated by Progressive Democrats of East Bay, the local PDA chapter. [more]
