Voters in New York’s 19th Congressional District elected PDA-endorsed candidate and first-time challenger John Hall to Congress on Election Day. John Hall entered the victory party ballroom to the music of Jackson Browne’s “I Am a Patriot;” the crowd of supporters and volunteers cheered as they realized their candidate was now the winner. Referring to what enabled the campaign to overcome the crescendo of dirty tricks designed to thwart the election in the final weekend of the race; Hall said “People power and individual contributions overcame $2 million in special interest contributions from my opponent. John Hall won the Democratic Party nomination in New York’s 19th Congressional District in the September 12 primary. Spanning the lower Hudson River and parts of five counties, the 19th CD saw nearly 21,000 voters go to the polls, with 49% voting for PDA-endorsed candidate Hall and only 26% going to his New York Times-endorsed rival in the four-way race.
