In response to this unique situation, PDA MA sent out an endorsement questionnaire to all four declared Democratic Party candidates; two responded. PDA MA members reviewed the candidates’ answers and met to consider the question of endorsement. CDs 1 and 2 met on Tuesday, October 27, in Greenfield, and CD 3 met on Saturday, October 31, in Worcester; the three active chapters voted to endorse Congressman Mike Capuano based on his responses to the questionnaire and his record as a U.S. Congressman.
Twenty-five PDA representatives from western Massachusetts chapters in CDs 1, 2, and 3, then met with Capuano and conveyed their endorsement directly to him. PDA stalwarts Russell and Martha Freedman, Elizabeth St. John, Les and Susie Patlove, Frances Crowe, Michelle Serra, Paki Wiekind, Wendy and David Newton, and PDA National Director Tim Carpenter were among those who attended the meeting.
Mr. Capuano will be the special guest on this week's regularly scheduled Inside the Party call, to be held this Wednesday, November 4, at 8:00 p.m. EST. PDA members will meet the next progressive Senator from Massachusetts, Mike Capuano and will consider a national PDA endorsement.
