John Bonifaz for Secretary of State (MA)
Several states held primaries yesterday outside of the presidential race to decide candidates further down ticket who will move forward to the general election. Among them are California, Iowa and New Jersey where there were six PDA-endorsed Healthcare NOT Warfare candidates in the running.
We wish to publicly thank Mary Pallant (CA24), Cheryl Ede (CA 50), Vickie Butcher (CA 52), Mike Copass (CA 53), Ed Fallon (IA-3), and Mahdi Ibn Ziyad (NJ-01) for their commitment to our progressive principles and positions, and for their courage to run against terrible odds. Collectively they earned more than 53,000 votes and our gratitude for their progressive leadership.
While we share and are saddened by their electoral loss, their campaigns exemplify the PDA model of working in coalitions to move our positions and candidates forward, which will one day soon result in a progressive governing majority. Their campaigns served to make our progressive positions and values a centerpiece of the electoral agenda. In so doing, they created a victory we can all enjoy.
