What Makes Laura Bonham Run: PDA Staff Member Runs for Utah State Legislature

Laura Bonham, among the founding members of PDA as a formal organization in Boston in 2004, is running for state representative in Utah’s 53 district for the third time. Visit www.voteforlaura.org. Laura currently serves as the PDA web site content manager and the PDA Utah State Coordinator. She does this in addition to being a working mother of two, a partner in a contracting business she and her husband Cody run, a member of the Coalville Utah Planning Commission, secretary of Utah Citizens Allied for Responsible Growth, an executive member of the Utah Democratic Party, and secretary of the Summit County Democrats. Obviously someone with time on her hands, Laura decided to run for her state legislative seat. PDA wishes her well.

“I’m running for election because the Utah legislature needs a pragmatic and progressive voice, someone who, with other like-minded legislators, can lead the way in showing to the citizens of Utah there is a newer, better, and more democratic way to conduct business other than back room deals and ‘business as usual.’”

In her roles within PDA Laura comes into contact with people from all over the country and the world. Her candidacy is a perfect example of what thinking globally and acting locally is really about. Just looking at Laura’s campaign issue pages gives Utah voters a very clear sense regarding where Laura will stand and lead on matters as diverse and important to Utahns as education, health care, agricultural preservation, and campaign finance reform.

Laura is also a great example to every one of us of all that can be done. The entire PDA family stands behind Laura and is inspired by Laura’s commitment, energy, and vision.
