Grijalva Seeks Co-chairmanship of Congressional Progressive Caucus

November 1, 2008, Washington, DC

Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona, PDA Advisory Board Member is seeking support from fellow caucus members to serve as the Co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus in the 111th Congress. In a letter dated October 23, 2008, Grijalva formally announced his candidacy for Co-chair.

After six years as a member, Grijalva points out that while the caucus's ranks have swelled, its stature has not kept pace with the growth. He hopes to take the caucus to the next level in the advancement of the progressive agenda, and develop a working relationship with President Obama that will result in pragmatic progressive solutions to the debacles brought on by the Bush Administration.

Grijalva hopes to continue his associations with Progressive Democrats of America and other organizations that promote candidates and issues at all levels of government. He hopes through these relationships that lobbying and advocacy for progressive solutions efforts will increase.
