PDA Staff Report
January 17th, 2006
The Inside/Outside Update is a PDA staff report to our supporters. We will send this every Tuesday. We want to make sure our grassroots supporters know what we, at the staff level, are doing each week. If you find this information useful, please consider making a small donation.
We want to thank all of you who took action following the endorsement of Christine Cegelis by PDA's Chapter in Illinois' 6th Congressional District last Thursday. This is the third candidate PDA has endorsed! Read more here.
PDA endorsement process:
To receive national PDA endorsement, a candidate must be endorsed by each PDA Chapter that has representation in the geographic area covered by the office the candidate seeks. For example, a candidate for House of Representatives would be officially endorsed only if each Chapter with members in the Congressional District involved endorsed the candidate. Similarly, a candidate for statewide office would be officially endorsed if each Chapter within the state endorsed the candidate. The endorsement process begins with individual Chapters.
Judge Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court poses a grave threat to the nation.
As President Bush claims the right to detain citizens and torture at will, the need for the separation of powers among our branches of government has never been greater. The nominee's support of the "unitary executive" theory is chilling, and threatens to turn two centuries of constitutional history on their head. Read more about PDA's take on Alito here.

A PDA CD Point Person will coordinate with his/her state's State Coordinator to assure effective communication among Congressional District leadership in the state.
