The Inside/Outside Update is a PDA staff report to our supporters. We will send this every Tuesday. We want to make sure our grassroots supporters know what we, at the staff level, are doing each week. If you find this information useful, please consider making a small donation.
Are you a young progressive activist (36 and under)? If so, we could use your passion during the next DNC (Democratic National Committee) event! Young Democrats of America (YDA) will be meeting during the DNC Conference in Phoenix , AZ , happening the first week of December. The YDA is the official youth arm of the Democratic Party, and very progressive. At the last meeting PDA activists helped put forward an "Out of Iraq" platform plank, which was later adopted by the YDA body.
Young Democratic activists can register for the December conference and participate in the YDA agenda for a low fee. This registration will also give you access to DNC meetings. Young PDA activists are needed at these events.
Alongside these YDA and DNC events, PDA will host a variety of Progressive Democrats of America events and trainings. This experience will allow you to gain access to critical insight into how the Party works, as well as provide networking opportunities with fellow young progressives working within the Democratic Party. This last month, Republican Congressman and former Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives Tom DeLay was arrested and booked on state conspiracy and money-laundering charges.
As if corruption at the highest level of our government isn't bad enough, it turns out Wal-Mart actually gave Tom Delay money 2 days after he was indicted. That's right. Wal-Mart made a $5,000 contribution to support Tom Delay's corruption 2 days after his indictment.
For a long time, we have known Wal-Mart's policies are morally corrupt, but now we know they are politically corrupt too. However, this time we are going to do something about it. Wal-Mart should ask Tom Delay for its contribution to be returned immediately. [read more & sign the petition]
From November 28 to December 9 representatives from over 150 countries will be meeting at a major United Nations Climate Conference in Montreal, Canada. They will be discussing the deepening global warming crisis and what should be done about it. PDA activists will be there as well!
For months activists around the world have been mobilizing toward December 3rd, an International Day of Action to Stop Global Warming. There is a rapidly growing understanding that this is a critical issue of overarching importance. As of today, events are being organized in 26 countries.
There will also be local actions around the United States . We encourage you, if you haven't done so already, to consider organizing one in your area. Check the Climate Crisis Coalition website for updates on what is being organized.

Tomorrow (November 2nd) is a nationwide "The World Can't Wait" mobilization effort which PDA has endorsed. This effort is focused on driving out the Bush regime. November 2 marks the first anniversary of Bush's "re-election," we will take the first major step in this by organizing a truly massive day of resistance all over this country.
